WynBay LLEN (Wyndham and Hobsons Bay Local Learning & Employment Network) is the local LLEN for Hobsons Bay.

The LLEN aims to engage all 10-19-year-olds in education, training or employment. WynBay LLEN is an independent incorporated (not for profit) association, which is funded by the Victorian Government through the Department of Education and Training (DET).

WynBay LLEN develops strategic partnerships between schools, business and training providers which address gaps and needs in the youth employment and education space. Partnerships are focused on improving retention and attainment at schools and increasing pathway opportunities to further education, training and employment.

WynBay LLEN is currently contracted to deliver Structured Workplace Learning in schools in Hobsons Bay and Wyndham.

What is Structured Workplace Learning (SWL)?
Structured workplace learning is on-the-job training during which a student is expected to master a set of skills or competencies related to a course accredited by the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) or the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), and undertaken as part of either the VCE or the VCAL.

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) has determined that structured workplace learning is an appropriate and valuable component of all VET undertaken by VCE and VCAL students. SWL is different to and much more than Work Experience Program. Structured workplace learning complements the training undertaken at school or at a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and should be spread across the duration of the training program. It provides the context for:
• enhanced skill development;
• practical application of industry knowledge;
• assessment of units of competence/modules, as determined by the school or RTO; and
• increased employment opportunities.
